19 Vehicles Seized in Major Crackdown on Illegal Mining in Central Kashmir

Budgam, Feb 3, KNT: As part of its intensified crackdown on illegal mining, Budgam Police seized 19 vehicles involved in the unauthorized excavation and transportation of minerals across various areas in January 2025.

The seized vehicles include 10 tippers, 4 tractors, and 5 JCB machines, confiscated from locations such as Ponchgund, Qumroo, Badran, Magam, and Narbal. Additionally, two FIRs have been registered against individuals engaged in these unlawful activities.

The anti-mining operation is being carried out in collaboration with the Department of Geology and Mining, with all police stations in the district actively participating. Authorities have also imposed heavy fines on those found violating mining regulations.

Reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection and legal enforcement, Budgam Police urged residents to report any instances of illegal mining in their areas. Officials assured strict action against violators in accordance with the law. [KNT]
