19-year-old youth from south Kashmir’s Anantnag was stabbed with a scissor in Punjab’s Patiala district and has been hospitalized in the district, the police said.
Danish Kumar, a resident of Dooru village of Anantnag, who was working as a caterer in Punjab, was stabbed by goons on Sunday.
Police have registered a case at the Kotwali Police Station (FIR No. 21/21) on charges of attempted murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code. Amit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Patiala, told The Kashmir Walla, “I will make sure that guy is safe.” An investigation in the case has been initiated.
Kumar said, “We have shifted the patient to tertiary hospital under the best care. We are monitoring it.”
Nasir Khuehami, spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir Students’ Association, said that he spoke with Media Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister, Raveen Thukral and urged to arrest the culprit and provide complete assistance to the victim. “Victim is hailing from a marginalized family,” said Khuehami.
Thukral said that he has spoken to the Senior Superintendent of Police Patiala and the accused has been booked.
“I have spoken to SSP Patiala also. He has assured me that there is no pressure of any sorts and the accused has been booked and arrested under Sec 307 of IPC. The matter is being dealt as per the law. @DGPPunjabPolice,” Thukral tweeted.
