Srinagar 01 April: Taekwondo players on Thursday evening staged a protest and demanded authorities to revisit its recent notice wherein taekwondo players are being restricted to enter the premises of indoor sports complex polo view for regular practice.
While talking to NIS coach Ms. Mansha she said that “as usual we went for regular practice to the indoor sports complex, polo view for training the students but we were stopped by the in-charge indoor stadium. He said that a sports officer has issued a letter in which it has been mentioned that from today don’t allow Taekwondo players for practicing in indoor sports complex”.
“We visited the Sports council along with students and parents. When we asked the sports officer that you have issued a letter that you cannot practice anymore in indoor sports complex despite answering she misbehaved with us”, said NIS Coach Muzaffar
Aiman a taekwondo player said that if this is due to the covid-19 pandemic there are already classes going in the indoor stadium like Judo, Badminton, etc. We have been particularly targeted only without any reason.
Taekwondo players also expressed anger over the said decision by the sports officer. “It is our right to demand justice for ourselves.
We are appealing to higher authorities to intervene in this matter as nowadays the government is trying to involve more and more youths in sports if this injustice continues, how can we promote sports. Kindly ensure justice to the players.
