Aryans Institute of Nursing celebrates World Hypertension Day

Srinagar 17th May :To combat low awareness rates for high blood pressure, Aryans Institute of Nursing (AIN), Rajpura Near Chandigarh celebrated World Hypertension Day under this year’s theme “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer”. Dr. Neerja Sood, Associate Professor, Biological sciences, University of Delhi interacted with the Aryans students of Nursing, Pharmacy, Law, Engineering, Management, B.Ed and Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the function.
 
Dr. Neerja while interacting said that Hypertension is another name of high blood pressure which leads to severe health complications such as heart attacks, strokes, dementia, kidney disease and vision loss. People who suffer from hypertension are generally not aware because there are no specific symptoms to detect the early stages of this disease, she said.
 
Neerja added that the Hypertension affects more than 30% of the adult population worldwide. This is an issue when blood pressure values are constantly raised and exceed above 140/90 mm Hg & leads to dangerous cardiovascular diseases. Accurate blood pressure measurement is essential for the proper diagnosis and management of hypertension, she said.
 
While answering students’ questions, she said that this day is celebrated on 17th may every year worldwide. Hypertension can be easily reduced by some lifestyle changes including Lose extra pounds, Eat a healthy diet, Reduce sodium in your diet, Limit the amount of alcohol you drink, Quit smoking, Reduce your stress, Monitor your blood pressure at home and see your doctor regularly, she explained.
