Srinagar, Aug 12 (KB): Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari on Monday appealed for intervention from Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in his initiative to resolve the long-pending issue of remuneration to contractual Assistant Professors appointed in Government Degree Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Bulletin (KB), Bukhari said he made a strong plea to fall in the line of University Grants Commission (UGC) recommendations, which has already been extended to Ladakh Union Territory.
Bukhari posted that these teachers are in a formative role and although their services to shape the region’s future will go down in posterity, despite this they have not been able to solve their monetary issues.
“Hon’ble @manojsinha_, I respectfully urge your intervention for a fair and equitable remuneration hike for contractual Assistant Professors in Govt Degree Colleges across J&K. It’s vital to align their salaries with UGC norms, as has been successfully implemented in Ladakh. These dedicated educators play a crucial role in shaping the future of our youth, yet they continue to face financial challenges. Let’s ensure they receive the recognition and support they deserve, fostering a better educational environment for all’’ tweeted Altaf Bukhari.— (KB)
