Authorities seized a producing fake domicile certificate shop in Handwara

Kupwara, Feb 3: Authorities in Handwara of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday seized a shop after it was found involved in producing fake domicile certificates. A salesperson at the shop, who used to provide photostat and other job related application form services has been booked for the offence, said officials. Tehsildar Langate, Mohammad Ismail said that the case came to light when officials received a domicile certificate suspected to be forged.

Upon verification, it was confirmed to be fake. “As a result, we have sealed the shop, and further investigation is underway,” the Tehsildar said.

He said that a case has been registered against the accused and efforts were on to determine the extent of the forgery. The official has urged citizens to remain vigilant and thoroughly verify their documents when receiving them from any computer shop. He emphasised the importance of ensuring the authenticity of critical documents to prevent fraud and misuse.
