Reports reaching the Kashmir Bulletin–(KB), said the attendants at the newly-opened children’s hospital in Bemina were left aghast upon discovering a severe shortage of essential pharmaceuticals at the facility. Locals have accused the authorities of being in a “deep slumber” and failing to take the necessary steps to address the shortage, and the hospital’s management has been criticized for their lack of response to the crisis.

“I came here with my child and the doctors gave me a prescription for my child. When I bought the medicine and showed it to the doctor, they told me that this medicine was of no use. They told me to go to JVC hospital and buy the medicine from there,” said Javed Ahmad, a resident from Uri Baramulla.

“Please tell me, if we have to travel 2 KM’s to JVC, then what is the use of this hospital here?” asked Javed Ahmad.

Another resident, Sajad Ahmad from Pakharpora, said that “We have to travel a very long distance to buy medicine, and when we reach there, only a single medical shop is present. We have to stay in queues and have to wait for a very long time for the medicine. Now, we would like to request the administration and concerned authorities to kindly look into this matter.”

When contacted Ms Children Hospital, Mr. Nazir Hussain Chowdhary, he said that “we have established a medical store here, and we have submitted our request to the government for approval of more shops. Now, it is up to them to grant the necessary permissions to operate more shops.” (Kashmir Bulletin–KB)
