Sopore: On a maiden visit, Sopore councilor Irfan Ali Sunday visited several parts of Sopore area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district to redress the grievances of local people, a step hailed by the locals.
While as people called the visit historic, Irfan Ali listened to the grievances and suggestions from the locals to redress these at an earliest.
According to Kashmir Despatch Correspondent Irfan Ali along with the senior government officials met residents across Sopore listening to the complaints and suggestions. People urged the councilor about bad conditions of roads in their areas, the unscheduled power cuts and other issues.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Irfan Ali said that he received complaints from locals that no one from the authorities is paying heed to their successive complaints.
“I took an initiative to meet the people personally and look out for their problems. I received a good response from people. I listened to their suggestions, grievances keenly.  People have voted for me and it is my duty to listen to their problems and redress it at an earliest”, he added.
“I will take the complaints of the people to higher authorities. People have suffered since ages as no one used to meet them during the tough time”, Irfan added.
“I have pointed down their problem and hopefully it will be taken care of at earliest”.
Meanwhile, people across Sopore have appreciated the efforts of Councilor Irfan Ali calling his visit historic.
“Irfan is doing excellent work and it is for the first time that we feel that we have voted for a right candidate, who walks among us and listen to our problems. He is what we call people’s leader ”, said one of the residents of Sopore.
“Such people can be the role models for other politicians, councillors and even for DDC candidates who won in the recently held elections, to work for the welfare of the people,” the residents told Kashmir Despatch.
