District Admin Kupwara Airlifts Critical Patients from Snow-bound Karnah

Kupwara, Mar 02 (KB): After closure of different border roads in the district due to recent heavy snowfall, District Administration Kupwara successfully airlifted critically ill patients from snow bound border area Karnah, ensuring they receive urgent medical care.

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, an evacuation operation was undertaken by the officers and field staff during which Rohail Mir, a 15-year-old from Kharwapra, and 18-month-old Bibi Sana from Kona Gabra, both of whom required immediate medical intervention where airlifted from Karnah. After their safe evacuation to Kupwara, both the patients were boarded in the Ambulance to reach Srinagar for advanced medical care.

After recent snowfall across the district which resulted in the closure of various border roads of Karnah, Machill and Keran, District Administration Kupwara had made adequate arrangement of helicopter service for these snow bound border areas to carry any medical exigency and evacuation operation. To ensure seamless helicopter service to different border areas from the district headquarter, Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Arshid Qadir Bhat have been designated as Nodal Officer of the service.

Meanwhile, the local people of Karnah area have expressed gratitude towards the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan for her pro-active approach of administration. They also appreciated the efforts of SDM Karnah, Tehsildar and Nodal Officer for their swift and coordinated response. (KB)
