Srinagar, Aug 08 (KB): A delegation from the Election Commission of India arrived in Jammu and Kashmir today on a two-day visit to take stock of the state’s preparedness for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and other Election Commissioners arrived in Srinagar today to engage in a sequence of imperative meetings, officials told KB.
In its agenda, there are deliberations in SKICC with representatives of major political parties like National Conference, PDP, Congress, BJP, Peoples Conference, Apni Party, they said.
Also, the Commission will hold a meeting with the police and civil administration officials in this regard to finalise the logistic and security arrangements for the conduct of elections, the officials said.
These consultations are undertaken for vital feedback and to ensure that all necessary steps are in place for the smooth Electoral process.
The ECI will move to Jammu tomorrow to continue their deliberations with regional stakeholders.— (KB)
