Srinagar, Aug 11 (KB): A major fire gutted the Imambada Durbal area of Hanjuk in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district during the early hours Sunday.
The blaze reportedly started at about 12:15 AM and in almost no time engulfed the entire Imambada.
Despite the quick response by the local police and fire and emergency services, the Imambada was reduced to ashes before firefighters could contain the flames.
People living in the neighborhood reported that the blaze was fast-spreading and there was no scope for intervention.
Not much could be done to prevent the widespread damage by emergency services in spite of their best efforts.
An inquiry into the cause of the blaze is now under way, but there are no details confirmed at this point.
No-one is reported injured, and an inquiry into the cause is continuing.— (KB)
