Food Safety officials Conduct Inspections in Srinagar

Food Vendors Face Strict Overhaul; 8 Challans Issued in Sweeping Safety Audit

Srinagar: Food safety officials from the Drug and Food Control Organisation conducted follow-up inspections in various areas of Srinagar, issuing multiple challans and directing vendors to maintain hygiene standards.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, A team of food safety officials from the Drug and Food Control Organisation conducted a follow-up inspections in various areas of Srinagar, including Nishat, City Walk Mall, Residency Road, Dargah Hazratbal, and Soura.

The inspection was led by Mr. Abid Bashir FSO, Syed Dilpazir, Khalid Bashir, and Hakeem, all Food Safety Officers- 8 challans will be instituted under Section 56 of the FSS Act and will be submitted to before the court.

Statement further reads, One vendor was recommended for compounding. Roadside vendors were educated on maintaining hygiene and sanitary standards.

Vendors were also instructed to protect prepared food from environmental hazards and pests, the Food business operators were directed to undergo pest control measures and avoid setting up temporary stalls near drains.

The primary objective of the inspection was to ensure compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, particularly in terms of sanitary and hygienic conditions, it reads.

The Drug and Food Control Organisation is committed to protecting public health and promoting a culture of food safety awareness among food business operators.

The inspection drive is part of the ongoing efforts by the Drug and Food Control Organisation to ensure food safety and quality in Srinagar. The special drive will continue across Srinagar city, reads the statement. (JKNS)
