Full dress rehearsal for I Day-2024 held across Kashmir valley

Srinagar, Aug 13 (KB): Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, J&K Police and security forces besides students from various schools and colleges had a full-dress rehearsal of Independence Day parade today across the Kashmir valley.

“Various contingents of J&K Police, J&K Armed Police, Home Guards, Fire & Emergency Services, Forest Protection Forces, IRP, CAPFs, NCC Cadets & students from different schools participated in full dress rehearsal for the Independence Day parade,” reads a handout issue to the Kashmir Bulletin (KB).

It also reads, the ceremonies also included a series of captivating cultural performances by school students and local artists, which infused these events with a vibrant and festive atmosphere. These performances not only celebrated the region’s rich cultural heritage but also emphasized the importance of Independence Day

In Srinagar, a colourful full-dress rehearsal & cultural programmes were held at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar where Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Shri VK Birdi-IPS were chief of guests. Div Com Kashmir hoisted the tricolor and took the salute from the march past.

In Kupwara, full-dress rehearsal was held at Parade Ground, DPL Kupwara. The Parade was presided by ADC Kupwara Shri Rouf Rehman accompanied by ASP Kupwara Shri Gh Mohd Bhat-JKPS, took the salute and hoisted the national flag. A wreath-laying ceremony was also held at the Martyrs Memorial to pay homage to the brave martyrs besides, colourful cultural programmes were also held.

In Awantipora, Tehsildar Awantipora Shri Shakeel Ahmad unfurled the National flag, inspected the parade and took salute at the march past at DPL Awantipora. SSP Awantipora Shri Ajaz Ahmed Zargar-JKPS, Addl. SP Awantipora DySP DAR DPL, SDPO Awantipora and other senior officers of civil administration, police department and other concerned were present on the occasion.

In Ganderbal, Full Dress Rehearsal was held at Madr-e-Meharban Qamriya Stadium Ganderbal. ADDC Ganderbal Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani-JKAS and Addl. SP Ganderbal Shri Malik Aijaz-JKPS were the Chief Guests on the occasion. ADDC Ganderbal unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the march past which was commanded by DySP Shri Syed Nazeef-JKPS. ADC Ganderbal Shri Gulzar Ahmad-JKAS, SP Hqr’s Ganderbal, DySP PC Ganderbal, other senior officers of Civil & Police Administration were present on the said occasion.

In Anantnag, full-dress rehearsal was held at Hamayun Muzammil Degree College, Khanabal. On the occasion, ADDC Anantnag Shri Abdul Aziz served as the chief guest for the event. He hoisted the National Flag and took the salute during the impressive march past. SP HQRS Anantnag Shri Sajad Ahmad, DySP DAR Anantnag Shri Rouf Baba along with other senior officers from the Police and Civil Administration were present on the occasion.

In Sopore, full dress rehearsal was held at Khushal Sports Stadium Sopore in which Sub Registrar Sopore Dr. Showkat Ahmad Bhat-JKAS unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade and took the salute at march past. SP Sopore Smt. Divya D-IPS along with DySP DAR Sopore Dr. Hilal Ahmad Hilal-JKPS, Tehsildar Sopore Shri Sheikh Tariq, SHO PS Sopore SHO PS Tarzoo and other officers of Sopore Police, Security Forces and Civil administration were also present on the occasion. The parade was commanded by Insp. Jan Mohammad.

In Shopian, full dress rehearsal parade was held at District Police Lines Shopian. The parade was commanded by DySP Hqrs Shopian Shri Javed Ahmad-JKPS. Additional Commissioner Shopian Dr. Zakir Hussain who was the Chief Guest took salute at the march past and inspected the parade contingents along with Addl SP Shopian Shri Shukat Rafiq-JKPS. Besides, rich tributes were paid to Martyrs of Police by way of showering flower petals at Police Memorial Wall at DPL Shopian.—(KB)
