‘Godi Media Hayie Hayie’: Several National Media Channels Face Ire from People in Sgr ‘Over Attempts to Flare Communal Disharmony’

Srinagar, April 23 (KB): Local citizenry in summer capital Srinagar on Wednesday countered several media channels for biased reportage, potential of stoking communal tensions and misrepresenting situation, in the backdrop of Pahalgam attack.

Reports reaching news agency Kashmir Bulletin said that reporters of several media channels, who are here in the Valley to cover the situation in the backdrop of Pahalgam attack, were countered by locals in Lal Chowk, for giving a twist to the facts and impending situation.

Raising slogans ‘Godi Media Hayie Hayie’ and ‘Godi Media Murdabad’, the locals interrupted the reporting over alleged ‘misrepresentation of facts’. The locals demanded from the reporters to stop airing views which can potentially escalate the communal tensions in the Valley.

“They have been commenting and reporting as per their whim and whimsical, without caring as to what possible repercussions such reporting may potentially bring to us all,” said a local, adding, “We ourselves are heartbroken with such a tragedy and these people are rubbing salt to our wounds, which we won’t let them to at any cost.”

“These people should be sensitive enough in their reporting, especially when it comes to Kashmir,” another local said. (KB)
