Govt likely to install water meters on commercial establishments under phase 1: CE PHE

Srinagar, Jan 29: Chief Engineer, Kashmir PHE Jal Shakti Department, Braham Jyoti Sharma said on Wednesday that government will likely to install water meters on commercial establishments under phase-1.

Sharma said that the Jal Shakti Department has covered 88 percent households who have been provided tap water under Har Ghar Jal Yojana scheme. “So far 88 percent tap water connections have been completed under Har Ghar Jal Yojana scheme. Under Jal Jeevan Mission the department is monitoring the working and implementation of schemes from centre and state levels. The work is under progress and 88 percent of task under Household Tap Connection (HTC) is completed, while the rest is underway,” he said.

He said the government has fixed March 31, 2025 as deadline for the completion of the project.

On Judicious use of water, he said that government will likely to install water meters in commercial establishments during phase-1.

“This is under consideration of the government. However in first phase the water meters will likely be installed in commercial establishments, then it will be extended further according to the mandate of the government,” he said. (GK)
