Srinagar, Aug 15 (KB) Jammu and Kashmir received considerate rainfall in the last 24 hours. Heavy showers pounded major parts of the Jammu Division, whereas light to moderate rain hit the Kashmir Division.
According to the MET Centre Srinagar, as per Kashmir Bulletin (KB), The Jammu Division witnessed heavy rainfall, which posed an apprehension of floods. On the other side, the Kashmir Division had moderate precipitation, though less in intensity, which contributed to the basic weather outlook.
The weather forecast for the coming days says that the rain and thunderstorms will continue.
On August 15, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms were predicted over the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir. From August 16th to August 20th, the weather conditions are going to be the same, with late-night and early-morning rain and thunderstorms likely.
The MET Centre has warned of intermittent intense showers, particularly over Jammu Division, with heavy rainfall leading to flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas.
Therefore, people are advised to remain alert, as many risks may arise from the prevailing situation.
They have further warned about the possibility of water logging in low-lying areas and an increase in the water level in the Tawi and other flood channels of Jammu Division, which may aggravate flooding and snarl daily life for many residents.
Amidst these conditions, the people shall remain updated about local weather updates, avoid travel in the affected areas as far as possible, and take necessary precautions to protect from any eventuality.— (KB)
