Awantipora, Oct 8 (KB): The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) is hosting a two-day national conference on the “Impact of Technology on the Kashmiri Language” on October 9-10.

In a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir Bulletin reads, The conference, organised by the Habba Khatoon Centre for Kashmiri Language and Literature and sponsored by the Le-Khidmah Foundation Ganderbal, aims to bring together experts to discuss and explore the role of technology in the preservation and promotion of the Kashmiri language.

Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST, stated that in the era of AI, whose influence pervades all sectors, the conference will present an opportunity for scholars and researchers to discuss and collaborate on harnessing technology for language promotion. He mentioned that IUST is working on developing Natural Language Processing models in Kashmiri, which will open up new vistas and further enrich the language.

Prominent linguist Prof. Shafi Shauq, former Dean of Linguistics and Languages, will deliver the keynote address, sharing his insights on the intersection of technology and language preservation. Renowned cultural historian and poet Zareef Ahmed Zareef will also grace the event, contributing to the discussions on the rich linguistic heritage of Kashmir.
