J-K: Centre extends term of Delimitation Commission by two months
Srinagar, Feb 22, KDC: The central government on Tuesday extended the term of the Delimitation Commission in Jammu and Kashmir by two months, officials said.

They said that the Union ministry of law and justice issued a notification on Tuesday to extend the tenure of the commission headed by Justice (retd) Ranjana Desai by two months. The commission’s term was coming to end on March, 2022.
The Delimitation Commission is a panel that was set up to redraw the electoral constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir and four northeastern states— Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. However, the one-year extension was only ordered for Jammu and Kashmir and now two months further extension has been given by the Union ministry of law and justice.
In a notification a copy of which lies with news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) reads that “In exercise of powers conferred by section 3 of the delimitation act 2002 (33 of 2002) the central government hereby makes the further amendment of two months in the notification of government of India in the ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative department no So-1015(e) dated 6th March 2020.
“In the notification in paragraph two for the words ‘two years’ the words ‘two years and two months’ shall be substituted, it added. (KDC)
