JKBOSE Class XI Mathematics Exam: Students Decry ‘Out-of-Syllabus’ Questions; Intervention Sought from Authorities

Meer Shabnum

Srinagar, Feb 25 (KB): Students of Class XI, appearing for Mathematics exams on Tuesday, have been left in anguish over alleged ‘out-of-syllabus’ questions.

A group of students told news agency Kashmir Bulletin, that three questions, Question 23 (4 Marks), Question 29 (6 Marks) and Question 30 (6 Marks), which were officially removed from the syllabus, were still asked in the exams.

Explaining further, they said that, three questions from the removed portion, ‘Polar Form of Complex Numbers’, ‘Solutions of Trigonometric Equations’ and ‘Arithmetic Progressions’, which in total account for sixteen marks, featured in the question paper.

“Sixteen marks in such an important exam is very much, and JKBOSE must look into the matter,” they said.

The situation has in the meantime sparked concern among parents, and educators also.

A prominent mathematics educator Muneer Sir has strongly advocated for grace marks of up to 20, emphasizing that students should not suffer due to an oversight in paper-setting. He urged JKBOSE to take immediate corrective action to ensure a fair evaluation process.

The JKBOSE is however yet to make any statement regarding the issue. (KB)
