JKNC Removes Social Media Manager to Omar Abdullah for ‘Misleading SPO Pay Hike’ Post
SRINAGAR: After causing a stir among thousands of Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Jammu and Kashmir with a tweet about their much-awaited pay hike, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) removed the tweet and issued a clarification hours later.
Kashmir Life newsroom that was waiting for confirmation to the reports ever since Omar Abdullah presided over the cabinet meeting in Jammu, took the cue from the JKNC tweet about SPO wage hike and did a broadcast suggesting that the JKNC government, as claimed, has delivered on another promise. Minutes after the live, as the JKNC withdrew its goof-up, Kashmir Life had to withdraw the story.
The original post, shared from party’s official social media handle, claimed an increase in the honorarium for SPOs, which quickly sparked reactions.
The tweet, which appeared to confirm the hike, was later removed by the party.
In response to the confusion, the party also announced the removal of its Social Media Advisor to the Vice President, stating that the post was shared without proper verification.
The tweet read that a recent post concerning SPOs honorarium was put out from various handles connected to the party & the Chief Minister. “This post should not have been put out & was done without any attempt to verify or cross check the information being put out. While we have been strongly advocating for an increase in the honorarium & we are making every effort to see this done it hasn’t happened till now.”
