Kathua Again: 2 Minors Elusive from Families for Last 12 Days

Srinagar, Mar 10 (KB): Two minor boys in Kathua have gone missing for last twelve days in Kathua, even as anger over the mysterious deaths of three individuals from the district, continues to invade social and political landscape in Kashmir.

Reliable sources told news agency Kashmir Bulletin that a missing report stands registered at police station Rajbagh Kathua, wherein one Swaru son of Shams ud Din, a resident of Hardu Mutthi, has maintained that his son and his nephew, both minors, have gone missing since February 27, 2025.

The missing duo Deen alias Denu, aged 15, had as per the sources, went to her sister’s house in Hardoo Mutthi, from where he alongside his cousin Rehmat Ali, aged 12, son of Makhan Din, a resident of Karandi Kalan in Marheen, had gone to graze cattle at Bhumberwan on February 27. “However, as claimed by the family, the duo hasn’t returned or seen anywhere ever since.”

“The family has reported the matter to local police station, which has registered a case vide FIR number 51/025 under section 137(2) BNS,” the sources said, adding, “efforts are on to locate the missing minors even though no clue has been found thus far.”

The families of the missing minors have urged the authorities to expedite the rescue operation to locate the missing duo.

The incident has cropped up at a time when the mysterious deaths of three civilians in Kathua only, have been receiving widespread attention from social and political class. The Jammu and Kashmir assembly condemned the deaths, even as Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday ordered for a thorough investigation into the matter. (KB)
