Legends League Matches in Srinagar; Have been waiting for such international matches being played in Kashmir: Omar Abdullah

Says, need to develop infrastructure, better cricket stadiums, lights, and facilities; then, will request more international matches to be played here in future; No delay in Govt formation, holidays delaying it, if formalities completed on tuesday & with God’s willing will take oath on wednesday

Srinagar, 12 Oct (KB): Incoming Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, on Saturday said that we have been waiting for such international matches being played here in Kashmir.

Omar Abdullah, as per news agency Kashmir Bulletin, while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a Legends League cricket match at Bakhshi Stadium in Srinagar, said, “Srinagar witnessed a thrilling day-night cricket match, which was wonderful. The crowd’s enthusiasm and passion were evident as they cheered on every shot,” he said.

“The stadium was packed, and we’ve been waiting for such events. Our sports personnel will gain exposure and opportunities. Hopefully, our children will play such matches in the future.”

“Irfan Pathan, Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan are my favorites; their gameplay brings joy,” Omar said.

On IPL and international matches being held during his government in J&K, Omar said, “We need to develop infrastructure, better cricket stadiums, lights, and facilities. Then, we’ll request more international matches.”

When asked regarding government formation delays, Omar said, “Don’t compare government formation to technology. We’re following procedures, and Jammu and Kashmir is under presidential rule.

Formalities will be completed by Tuesday, and the cabinet note will be sent to Rashtrapati Bhawan and then to the Home Ministry. With Allah’s will, we’ll take the oath on Wednesday,” Omar said.

Omar Abdullah added, “We don’t need to compare government formation to technology. Once, we tried forming a government via fax machine, but it broke down. And if you suggest running our government through fax, you’ll ruin us.”
