Masoodi visits Anantnag, seeks impetus to COVID care efforts
Asks district Admin to leverage all resources to give boost to oxygen beds, Critical Covid care vaccines, drugs, critical equipment
Srinagar, 03 May (KB) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Member of Parliament from Anantnag (retd) Justice Hassnain Masoodi on Monday visited district Anantnag and held a review meeting with the concerned district administration on the efforts underway to combat the viral spread.
According to a statement issued to the Kashmir Bulletin (KB), Masoodi took stock of the efforts by district administration Anantnag towards curbing the spread of Covid and facilitating the treatment of the infected.
During his day-long visit to the district, he also visited the trauma hospital at Bijbehara to have first hand information about the facilities being made available to the people by district administration. The district administration apprised the visiting Member of Parliament about the plethora of efforts being made by it to combat the viral spread.
The district administration apprised the visiting MP that 2300 RT-PCR, RET tests are done on a daily basis in the district. He was also acquainted that 3500 vaccines are administered to the people on a daily basis. On the status of the availability of cryptogenic oxygen, the visiting MP was told that a 100LPM facility is being commissioned at GMC Anantnag and an additional 1000LPM oxygen producing facility will shortly come up at Trauma hospital Bijbehara.  On the status of the containment zone, the Member of Parliament was told that 23 localities in the district have been designated as red zones.  On the issue of availability of beds, the concerned district authorities told the visiting MP that an additional facility of 650 beds was in operation at Degree College Larkipura. In addition, he was told, one such facility is coming up at Siligam, Akura. He was also apprised that the administration is taking all steps to augment the availability of oxygen beds for the patients.
The visiting MP appreciated the efforts of the district administration and impressed upon them to supplement their capacity to meet the rate of infections. He impressed upon the district administration to give a boost to the stocks of critical covid care drugs, vaccines and other critical care equipment at all PHC/MMCs, SDHs and TB centers across the district. He also impressed upon the concerned administration to enhance the bed capacity on urgent basis.
Visiting MP also expressed concern over the shortage of essentials in the government designated red zones in the district and urged the district administration to ensure availability of all essentials to the people stuck in such containment zones.
Masoodi had earlier released Rs 1.5 Cr from his MPLAD funds to combat the threat of the virus in the constituency.  The amount was equally distributed among Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, and Anantnag, district hospitals. (Kashmir Bulletin)
