Non-Transfer Of Employees In Forest Department For Years Raises Many Questions
Srinagar, Feb 1 (GNS): Many employees including District and Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs), Conservators, DSCOs and Wildlife Wardens etc have not been transferred in the forest department for years together which has raised questions about overall efficacy of the department as well as highlights dangers to the woods.
Sources said that due to the non-transfer of the employees for longer duration, there was every possibility of some employees having developed nexus of sorts with some unscrupulous people which ultimately leads to dangers to green cover. “If a through probe is ordered and that too randomly, instances would come to fore where forest cover has been lost due to nexus between some employees and the smugglers,” the sources said.
Transfer of employees is essential component in an organisation for the purpose of minimizing politics between employees, to ensure cordial relationships among the workforce, to increase transparency in work, to obviate syndicate of employees for unethical purpose and to obviate nepotism in the department.
Employee transfers remain to be of considerable importance for varied reasons. Among others, the transfers of employees, especially top brass, obviates nepotism and in the process increases transparency in the work. Non-transfer of the employees leads to secrecy in the flow of work and as a result there is eventually no transparency in work.
Employee holding on to their positions for long duration of three or more years leads to politics among employees which leads to lack of coordination and eventually leads to drop in overall organisational or departmental performance.
Also importantly, the transfer is considered essential to avoid monotony in the work of an employee.
The transfer helps avoid excess dependency on a particular employee which otherwise affects the purpose of hierarchy and affects the overall control over subordinates.
Besides, transfer limits the employee (s) powers as regards taking advantage and having sole control over the position or section.
Sources said that Some officials have become so obstinate in their work that they think they are accountable to none. (GNS)
