#SayNotoDrugs: Four drug peddlers arrested in Kupwara, Narcotics recovered: Police

Kupwara, Apr 18 (KB):In yet another breakthrough on its continuous efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Kupwara Police today arrested  four notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband narcotics from their possession.
Police spokesperson as per a statement issued here to KB — Kashmir Bulletin said that, The peddlers were  arrested by a team of Police Station Kupwara  led by SHO Rafiq Lone who had laid a naka at Regipora Crossing, Kupwara after developing a specific information about the illegal activities of these peddlers.
During the checking, Police team apprehended four persons involved in peddling of drugs who have been identified as Rayees Ahmed Shah @ Rayees Kachur son of  Gulam Mustafa resident of Andrahama Drugmulla,  
Mohd Ayoub Khan son of  Habibulla Khan resident of Waterkhani Drugmulla, Matiul Rehman son of Majeeb ul Rehman resident of Neham Bagh West Bengal (at present working in Kupwara as labour) and Shafiqul Rehman son of Attula Rehmam a resident of Malda West Bengal (at present working in Kupwara as labour).
At the time of arrest, all the four drug peddlers were moving under suspicious circumstances and trying to evade police presence. During the personal search of the accused persons, brown sugar like narcotics substance has been recovered from their possession . During initial questioning they disclosed that they were contacted by some addicts of Kupwara and were on way to deliver the drugs to them to earn money.
Taking cognisance of the matter, Police has registered a case FIR No.88/2022 under section 8/21 NDPS Act in PS Kupwara  . Some more arrests in the case can not be ruled out  in the coming days.
Kupwara Police once again appeals the general public to cooperate in sharing the information related to drug abuse so that appropriate  steps can be initiated and a drug free environment is created. #SayNotoDrugs, #Kupwara Police, reads the statement
