SKIMS implements new visitor restrictions to ensure more patient safety

Srinagar Sep 10 (KB): The Department of Hospital Administration, SKIMS, in its effort to enhance patient care services and introduce strict infection control measures, issued a fresh set of guidelines vis-à-vis visitors.

Henceforth, the visitors will have to strictly adhere to the prescribed timing of 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

This will give way to better and more fluid patient flow with less congestion within the hospital premise. The hospital administration encourages just one attendant per patient inside the hospital premise.

This is to avoid overcrowding, one of the major deterrents to the effective practice of infection control in hospitals. Overcrowding not only puts pressure on the hospital’s infection management but also invites an opportunity for increased vulnerability among both patients and attendants.

Terming these guidelines as paramount, Medical Superintendent SKIMS said, “Our main aim is to make sure that our patients are safe and away from danger.

In this way, we are able to control infection transmission and the risk factor associated with it by limiting the number of visitors and allowing only those during particular visiting hours.”

The SKIMS authorities are seeking the public’s cooperation in implementing these new laws.

“Guests help create a safer atmosphere and support the hospital’s mission of giving the best quality care for each and every one of its patients.” — (KB)
