Srinagar, Feb 01: In a decisive action against unfair trade practices, Srinagar Police have arrested a chicken seller in Nowhatta Chowk for allegedly overcharging customers and using inaccurate weighing machines.

According to officials, the police took cognizance of the matter after receiving a written complaint from a customer. Following an initial verification, the allegations were found to be true, leading to the registration of FIR No. 06/2025 at Police Station Nowhatta under relevant legal provisions.

The accused, identified as Aijaz Ahmad Hakeem, son of Gh. Ahmad Hakeem, a resident of Nowhatta, was taken into custody, and all weighing machines in his possession were seized.
