Traffic Police issues advisory as Snowfall, Landslides disrupt roads

Srinagar, Feb 28 (KB): The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police issued a public alert, advising travelers to exercise caution as continuous rain and snowfall have made the roads slippery, landslides have occurred, and multiple blockages have taken place in the area.

Agencies have warned of the possibility of sudden acceleration, overspeeding, and travelling on water-logged or snowy roads being risky. People commuting have been requested to drive slow, keep low-beam headlights, give wider vehicle space, and check for proper brakes and tires before proceeding.

“The threat of skidding and accidents is great. Citizens should avoid stepping out unless indispensable, especially on hilly and construction zones,” a top traffic official told news agency—Kashmir Bulletin.

Travelers have been advised to go through traffic helpline numbers and check the conditions of the road before departing. Authorities emphasized focusing on safety due to declining weather conditions.— (KB)
