Numan’s Family Rejects Settlement Rumours, Seeks Justice in School Harassment Case

Srinagar, 5 June (KB) : The grieving family of 14-year-old Numan, a student at Harvard School Srinagar, has dismissed allegations of accepting financial compensation and employment in exchange for their silence. They insist that their sole demand is justice for their son’s tragic death.

As per the details available with Kashmir Bulletin (KB), Numan, a young student passionate about self-expression, was reportedly subjected to months of harassment by school staff over his tattoos. “He didn’t die by suicide,he was driven to it,he was too young to fully understand the implications of having tattoos. Instead of guiding him, the teachers humiliated him” claimed a local resident.

According to the family, Numan had been expelled from school over the issue, only to be readmitted following community intervention. “He was too young to understand the implications of having tattoos. Rather than educating him, the teachers humiliated him,” said a close family member.

The grieving family has urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding their son’s death and hold those responsible accountable.

Notably, The school rejects the claims, calling them untrue and hurtful. Earlier an official of the school said staff always spoke respectfully with students and parents and never planned to expel Numan. “We are heart-broken by his death,” the official added, “but we still believe discipline is a necessary part of education.” justice

It is worth noting that the school held a cross-country run on the same day as Numan’s passing, yet the event was neither postponed nor acknowledged with a condolence message on the school’s social media platforms.

Additionally, G. N. War, President of PSAJK, remained silent on the matter until the eighth day after Numan’s death, when he finally shared a condolence message.

On the legal front, “The investigation is actively progressing, with an inquest already initiated. Authorities have examined the school’s CCTV footage and gathered statements from both sides. Those found responsible will face legal consequences as per the applicable sections of the law,” said a police official.
