Srinagar, Oct 8 (GNS): Weatherman on Friday said that South West Monsoon has completely withdrawn from J&K and Ladakh.
“From now on, each spell of rain/snow will be due to westerly winds (Western Disturbances) which generally originates from Mediterranean, Black and Caspian Sea,” a Meteorological department official said.
Meanwhile, the official told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 9.2 degrees Celsius against normal of 7.3 degree Celsius for this time of the season.
He said Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded minimum of 8.1 degrees Celsius against 6.3 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam, the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, witnessed a low of 4.8 degrees Celsius and normal of 3.6 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag had a low of 8.8 degrees Celsius against normal of 7.7 degrees Celsius, the official said.
Northern Kashmir’s Kupwara town recorded minimum of 5.8 degrees Celsius while Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in Baramulla district had a low of 6.4 degrees Celsius against 4.7 degrees Celsius.
The weatherman has forecast mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir till October 10. (GNS)
