Srinagar, April 10 (KB): A brief exchange of fire again took place between militants and security forces in Beshembar Nagar area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar, in which two Pakistani militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), got killed, officials said.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar while talking to reporters here at Srinagar said, “we were tracking these two militants from the day since they attacked security forces in Srinagar, on April 04”.
“Srinagar police was keeping a continuous watch on these two militants, today on specific input forces zeroed in the suspect house, as the forces approached the suspected spot, the hidden militants tossed a grande in which two police personnel and one CRPF personal got initial injuries, condition of all the three is stable”, IGP Kumar said.
“The killing of both militants is very successful for the security forces. Those who are involved in attack on security forces, civilians and journalists, will be countervaild. Both the killed militants were Pakistani citizens and belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). We will seize the property of house owner for giving shelter to militants”, he said.
Replying to a query about the declining number of militants, IGP Kumar said; “Yes the number is declining very fast, and with the help of police, security forces and army, we will take it further down”.
A police spokesperson in a statement said at about 10:50 AM, on specific input generated by Srinagar Police regarding presence of militants in Bhishembar Nagar area of Srinagar, a cordon and search operation was launched by Srinagar Police and Valley QAT CRPF in the said area.
Keeping in view the tourist movement and huge rush in the area, Police and CRPF exercised maximum restraint and carried out operation in professional manner to avoid any civilian causality. During the course of evacuation of civilians, the trapped militants hurled a grenade resulting in minor splinter injuries to 03 Police/CRPF Jawans who were shifted to hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The operation was resumed and in the ensuing encounter, another hiding militant was killed and bodies of both the killed militants were recovered from the site of encounter. Both the killed militants were Pakistani and identified as Mohammad Bhai @Abu Qasim, @Mir Shoaib @Mudassir and Abu Arsalan @Khalid @Aadil.
As per police records, both the killed militats were ‘A’ categorized and linked with proscribed militants outfit LeT. Killed militant Mohammad Bhai was active since year 2019 while as Abu Arsalan was active since year 2021 in Central Kashmir. Both the killed militants had a history of militants crime cases including pistol-borne attacks and grenade throwing incidents.
He aslo said that, they were also involved in an attack on CRPF personnel on 04, April in Maisuma area in which one CRPF Jawan attained martyrdom and another got injured. It is pertinent to mention that both the killed militants were carrying fake Adhaar cards to conceal their identity.
Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation. In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, IGP Kashmir congratulated the joint teams of Police and CRPF for conducting the operation in professional manner and killing the wanted militants within shortest possible time. IGP Kashmir also said that this operation is one of the best examples of how investigation of a militants crime case leads to an anti-militant operation and surely a big success for Srinagar Police.
