Srinagar, Aug 15: On the occasion of Independence Day, 2022, Director General of Prisons, J&K – Sh. H. K. Lohia, IPS, hoisted the National Flag at Central Jail Srinagar and extended his greetings and good wishes to the staff and prisoners.
While addressing the staff and prisoners, he emphasised on the importance of
cultivating core national values and exhorted to contribute collectively for peace and harmony. He also congratulated the recipients of President’s Correctional Service
Medal, 2022. Later, a cultural programme was presented by the inmates during which
they performed on various patriotic & folk songs.
Independence Day was celebrated with fervour in all the jails of J&K.
Superintendents hoisted National flag in the jails & sweets were distributed among
the inmates and staff.
Earlier, Prisons Department launched ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in jails and
activities like cultural programs (Desh Bakhti songs, dance, rangoli, wall art, drama,
etc.), Yoga and meditation sessions, plantation drives etc., were also conducted in jails of J&K as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.
