Srinagar, Sep 02: The School Education Department is likely to prepare a 2-3 months readiness module to improve the student’s inability to cope-up with the curriculum at secondary level.
According to the official documents available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Ministry of Education (MoE) has said this during the Project Approval Board Meeting while discussing the school readiness module for students at secondary level.
“The dropout rate at secondary level has been consistently higher and one of the reasons for the same is student’s inability to cope-up with the curriculum and high stakes associated with these classes,” it reads.
In this regard MoE has said, “A 2-3 months readiness module should be prepared for children entering in grade IX so that they are prepared for the secondary stage.”
“National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will be developing this module which can be adopted or adapted by the states and Union Territories (UTs),” it reads.
In the month of August, KNO reported that the dropout rate of students in several districts, particularly among Schedule Tribe (ST) communities, is very high at all school levels across Jammu and Kashmir.
