Srinagar September 20: Despite tall claims by the government over development of Shah- re- Khas, the residents in downtown are facing administrative apathy since years altogether.
In a statement released to the press, socio-political activist Asif Zargar has called upon the LG Administration over callous attitude of the departments towards poor infrastructure, dilapidated road conditions, unavailability of Public Health Centers and awry state of street lights on bridges in several areas of downtown.
Besides this Zargar stated that opening of cinema halls does not qualify for the development of the region if the local greviances of common masses remain unaddressed.
“It is extremely unfortunate to see that the government has prioritised needless infrastructure over the much needed health care infrastructure and other basic amenities,” he added.
He further stated that the projects such as the cement bridge in Qamarwari is still awaiting completion since 2007 and Mahraja. Gunj Hospital is left unattended since 2017 while at the same time , the road widening projects in the city are left unattended.
“Not just the infrastructure, our society has lot more menaces to curb such as the widely spread drug menace. In downtown, the awry and non functional street lights is giving a ground to the drug peddlers who reel under darkness for their evil activities while at the same time making it unsafe for the female passerbys. I request LG Manoj Sinha to direct officials for early redressal of the problems of common masses in downtown so that the locals get respite from long pending issues,” he said.
