Budgam, Oct 22 (KB): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police in Budgam have arrested drug peddler, in Narbal Magam, a police spokesman said.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Bulletin–(KB), the spokesperson said that while continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
“During night patrolling near village Yarigund, police party of Police post Narbal Magam intercepted one Auto (Load carrier) driven by one Tasaduq Ahmad Ganie S/o Mohammad Subhan Ganie R/o Yarigund. Upon seeing the police party the driver tried to flee from the spot but was chased and apprehended tactfully. During search 21 Kgs of cannabis leaves like substance was recovered from the load carrier. The drug peddler was arrested on spot and load carrier with registration number JK01L-8141 also seized,” said the spokesperson.
He further added that, “case FIR Number 157/2022 under relevent sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Magam and investigation taken up. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood.”
Moreover, “persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddler should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” he said. (Kashmir Bulletin–KB)
