Poacher arrested in Srinagar, Details Here
Srinagar, 02 Jan (KB): In a major victory for wildlife conservation efforts, a poacher has been arrested in the Dal Lake area of Central Kashmir’s district Srinagar.
“Mudasir Ah Wangnu was caught red-handed while attempting to poach migratory birds with an unlicensed double barrel rifle.”
Srinagar police in a tweet, as per Kashmir Bulletin–(KB), said that Wangnu has been charged with violating the Arms Act and the Wildlife Protection Act. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in the Nigeen police station.
“This arrest comes as a relief to animal lovers and conservationists, as poaching remains a major threat to many species around the world. Not only does poaching harm ecosystems and disrupt the balance of nature, it also puts the lives of poachers and law enforcement officers at risk.”
“One poacher namely Mudasir Ah Wangnu S/o Fayaz Ah Wangnu R/o Bhagwanpora arrested along with unlicensed double barrel rifle while attempting poaching migratory birds inside Dal Lake. FIR no: 01/2023 U/S 03,25 of Arms Act & sec 51 of Wildlife protection act registered in Nigeen PS,” Srinagar Police Tweeted. (Kashmir Bulletin–KB)
