Srinagar: The J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) notified the date-sheet for class 10th annual examination commencing from November 20. A Board official said that around 80,000 students have registered for the examination for which 791 centres have been set up in government and private schools across Kashmir.

The number of centres has been increased to maintain social distance in the examination halls.

Notably, the state executive committee, Department of Disaster Management, J&K, has ordered that the students appearing in the upcoming 10th and 12th class annual regular (2021) examinations should carry parents’ consent along on each day of their examinations.

The order was issued after the school education department submitted its proposal to the executive committee for its approval to hold examinations in offline mode.

The state executive committee in an order has also stated that the offline board examination for 12th and 10th classes will be permitted to be held in staggered manner keeping in view all the social distancing norms and Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB).

As already reported by this newspaper, the government, in view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, has announced a 30 percent relaxation in syllabus for classes 10-12 for this year’s annual regular examinations, which will be held in offline mode like last year.

“The question paper will be framed from 100 percent of the syllabus but the students have to only attempt 70 percent questions which will be considered as 100 percent,” Joint Secretary Examinations at JKBOSE told Greater Kashmir.

Notably, the Board has been asked to carry out the sanitisation of the examination halls, furniture and toilets on a daily basis before commencement and after the culmination of exams.

The seating arrangement has to be made in such a manner that every second desk is left vacant to maintain physical distancing.

Only vaccinated staff have to be deputed for exam duty. The Board has also stated that no decision was taken for holding exams of Covid19 positive students.

“The students who will be tested positive during the exams or few days before commencement of exams need not to approach the exam centres,” a Board official said.

However the State executive committee has ordered that separate facilities should be provided to the students showing any symptoms like cough, common cold and flu.
