COVID Spike: DC Sgr warns of lockdown in some parts of city; Full Details Below

Srinagar, Sep 20 (KNO): Srinagar administration is mulling to impose strict lockdown in some parts of the city that continue to violate Covid SoPs, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Muhammad Aijaz Asad said Monday.

He said for the mistake of some parts of Srinagar, entire district can’t be punished. The DC Srinagar stated this after conducted surprise inspections of various areas of Srinagar including Lal Chowk and Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) areas of the city along with the SSP Srinagar Sandeep Choudhary.

The DC Srinagar found many shopkeepers and mall owners involved in the violation of Covid SoPs and ordered their on the spot sealing.

Speaking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the DC Srinagar said that some areas in Srinagar continue to violate Covid SoPs and the administration will impose strict lockdown in these areas in few days.

“In some parts of Srinagar, Covid SoPs are regularly violated. We will wait for a few days, if things don’t change, we will enforce strict lockdown in these areas,” he said, adding that “We cannot turn the entire district hostile for the violations being done by the people in some areas.” SSP Srinagar Sandeep Choudhary also and police will act strictly against those violating the Covid-SoPs in the days ahead.

Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday reported 128 Covid-19 positive cases, with Srinagar reporting 68 Covid cases, taking the total number of cases in the valley to 2,04,578, with 2247 deaths due to Covid-19, while the valley’s current active case load is at 1235.

There are around 542 Micro Containment Zones in the valley, with Srinagar topping the list at 161 MCZs followed by the district Budgam with 126 MCZs, while lowest being district Shopian which has only Four Micro Containment Zones—(KNO)
