Sealing of commercial building:
Building owner had not even applied for the permission: RTI
Srinagar, June 19, KNT: Srinagar Municipal Corporation has clarified that a commercial building that was sealed last month had come up illegally and even the owner had not bothered to apply for the building permission.
A section of media carried the reports that SMC had given proper permission to building owner.
An official from SMC told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the reply sought in this regard under Right to Information Act clearly shows that the owner of the building had not applied for the building permission.
“Let alone seeking the permission, the owner had even not applied for the permission. So, to claim that building owner had been given building permission is totally baseless as had been reported,” the official said.
Pertinently, in the last week of May last month, Cmmissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation had sealed a three-storey commercial building in Karsoo Rajbagh area of Srinagar city.
The commercial structure is owned by one Farooq Ahmed Dar. Commissioner SMC had ordered the sealing of the structure after taking cognizance of the report filed by concerned Ward Officer that the building is coming up without any permission and the owner is violating court directions.
The Ward Officer had reported that the structure in question has been raised without permission.
The building was sealed and put under the ‘Superdari’ with the Station House Officer Police Station Rajbagh and Ward Officer, Ward number 30. (KNT)
