Dr Fayaz shares Covid-management tips, highlights simple ways to increase oxygen levels
Jammu, May 9 (KB): ‘Fever, sore throat, loss of appetite and tiredness are some of the prominent symptoms of Covid-19 infection. If any of these is faced, it is time to isolate oneself and to get Covid-19 test’.
Dr Fayaz Ahmad Wani, Professor Department of Medicine, Government Medical College Jammu says that timely management of Covid-19 can help in recovery and containment of its spread.
While advising people with mild symptoms, Dr Wani says that it is advised to keep drinking water frequently and to monitor oxygen saturation levels multiple times during the day. Oxygen saturation levels above 94 are safe, and only when the levels fall between 94 and 90, it is time to get alert and check the levels more frequently.
Dr Wani adds that laying in prone position for longer duration can also help increase blood oxygen saturation.
Prone position is a body position in which the person lies flat with the chest down and the back up. ‘If the oxygen saturation levels fall below 90, it is time to get hospitalised and get expert treatment’, warns the Professor.
