Srinagar, 08 Mar (KB): Tightening the noose against drug dealers of the JK U.T, five such bank accounts have been got frozen by Anti Narcotics Task Force J&K.
As Per a statement issued to the Kashmir Bulletin (KB), said that these account were directly linked with the drug cartels of Kashmir with its head as Masood Ahmed Dar S/O Abdul Rahim Dar R/O Bijbihara, Anantnag Kashmir. Total amount frozen is 54 Lakhs and 27 thousands. This cartel had been running illicit trade by supplying Hashih from Kashmir Valley to other parts of the country and also supplying and distributing Psychotropic Drugs in the JK U.T and were spolling the life of youths of the U.T.
Three main distributers of this cartel have already been arrested by ANTF which include Salman Khan and Amit Sexena from Delhi who were distributing Psychotropic drugs from Delhi to J&K and one Jahangir Ahmed who was main supplier of drugs from JK U.T to other parts of the country.
These freezing orders are first of its kind case where bank accounts have been frozen by the Competent Authority ie SAFEMA.(Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Act For forfeiture of property Act 1976.) of Delhi. The process involves proving such accounts to be Proceeds of Narcotics and case is heard by SAFEMA which is the Competent Authority. Proper Right to hear was given to the account holders while Investigating officer Sh. Parvez Sajjad proved beyond reasonable doubts that all such money is Proceeds of Narcotics and Competent Authority confirmed the freezing orders of all the accounts.
ANTF is investigating all aspects of the money transactions including Hawala which cannot be ruled out at this stage. ANTF is probing many such other accounts and properties both moveable and immoveable of notorious drug dealers of JK U.T and proper confiscations and forfeiture shall be followed in near future. These drug dealers also include illicit Crop cultivators, Cross border smugglers, peddlers etc.
Through the means of this Press Conference, stern warning is issued to all such dealers who are indulging into the illicit trade of drugs in JK U.T. ANTF shall be targeting the finances of these cartels which is both their purpose as well as their strength—(Kashmir Bulletin)
