Body of Kashmiri Student who Died in Iran Returns Home
SRINAGAR: The body of a Kashmiri MBBS student Mohammad Arsalan Kanjwal, who passed away in Iran on 6th January, is being flown back to Kashmir on Friday.
National Convenor of J&K Students Association Nasir Khuehami said that th matter was taken up with the Ministry of External Affairs and the office of LG Manoj Sinha for early repatriation of the mortal remains to bring some solace to the bereaved family.
He said that the repatriation was facilitated by Mahan Air Flight No. W5 071, scheduled for 19th January 2024, at the expenditure of the GoI.
“His body will reach his native village in Sopore town this evening, where his last rites will be performed,” Khuehami added.
Hailing from Sopore town, Arsalan Kanjwal, was a fourth-year medical student at IUMS in Iran. “He wasn’t answering calls since last night. In the morning, we repeatedly knocked on his door, but he did not respond. Upon breaking the door after some time, we found him lifeless,” a friend of Arsalan had told Kashmir Life.
