Srinagar, 17 Aug (KB): After a 12-year wait, the Principal District and Session Judge of Pulwama, has delivered a significant judgment in the kidnapping and murder case of Kaleem Qadri.
The court, as per the details available with the Kashmir Bulletin (KB) has convicted two individuals, on charges of kidnapping, ransom, and murder. Meanwhile, proceedings continue against the main accused, Nazar Mohammad Dar, who absconded in 2016, under Section 512 of the CrPC.
This case, which began in October 2011, faced numerous delays over the years. However, with the dedicated efforts of Special Public Prosecutor Advocate G.M. Dar, appointed by the state to ensure a fair trial, the case has finally reached a conclusion.
Patiently, the verdict, given after careful consideration of the evidence and arguments from both sides, brings relief to the Qadri family, who have been seeking justice for over a decade.
Notably, the family expressed their gratitude to Judge Naseer Ahmad Dar and Advocate G.M. Dar for their roles in securing this judgment. The convictions, under Sections 302, 364, and 387 of the RPC, show the criminal justice system’s commitment to holding offenders accountable.
Also, the court will announce the sentences on August 22, following submissions from both parties.
Javaid Qadri, the victim’s father, expressed his thanks to the judge and the prosecutor, stating, we are grateful that the court has carefully considered the evidence and delivered a judgment that upholds justice. “This verdict is a crucial step in our long journey toward justice for Kaleem. We hope the sentencing will appropriately reflect the seriousness of the crime and help bring closure to our family,” he said.—(KB)
