IGP Kashmir chairs security and election review meeting in south Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 10 (KB): In a major step towards ensuring a safe and incident-free Assembly Election process, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, V.K. Birdi-IPS today convened a security and election review meeting at the Range Police Headquarters in Anantnag.
DIG SKR Anantnag Javid Iqbal Matoo-IPS, the Commander of the Ist sector, DIG CRPF Awantipora/Anantnag, DIG BSF, DIG ITBP, and all SSPs of the South Kashmir Range joined the meeting comprising senior officers.
The first and foremost agenda was an assessment of the security arrangements in respect of the imminent Phase-1 elections.
DIG SKR Anantnag presented a detailed briefing about the arrangement regarding the deployment of force in the form of Coys along with the location of polling booths, the location of strong rooms, and service support required.
Special attention was given to the security of polling stations and strong rooms.
IGP Kashmir emphasized that there should be effective coordination in all aspects amongst all security agencies and proactive measures to be ensured to have peaceful elections.
He also directed the officers to have vigilant oversight on anti-national elements and ensure force movements on national highways are secure.
Apart from attending the meeting, IGP Kashmir visited various camping sites of CAPFs in Anantnag and reviewed the ground-level arrangements, including ensuring adequate facilities for the officers and jawans.
The visit was rounded off with a critical review of the strategies and action plans put in place to ensure a free and peaceful election.— (KB)
