BJP’s Sunil Sethi Calls for Detailed Inquiry into Kathua Man’s Death
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Sunil Sethi on Monday said that a detailed inquiry will be conducted to uncover the facts surrounding the death of a Billawar resident who died by suicide after alleged custodial torture.
Sethi said the party was committed to ensuring justice and transparency in the matter.The incident has garnered significant attention after allegations emerged that Din was subjected to police torture and harassment prior to his death.
Authorities have initiated separate investigations to ascertain the circumstances leading to his demise.
The police have said that Makhan Din, a resident of Billawar in Kathua district, died by suicide after being questioned in connection with a case involving an attack on an Army convoy last year, which resulted in the deaths of four soldiers.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with political leaders demanding a thorough and impartial investigation.
PDP leader Iltija Mufti has called for a judicial probe, expressing concerns that ongoing police and administrative inquiries may not be sufficient.
