Srinagar Police apprehend New Delhi drug dealer in Top-rated narcotics raids
Srinagar, Mar 03 (KB): Srinagar Police have apprehended Mohammad Zaid, a drug peddler from New Delhi belonging to the capital city’s Jamia Nagar area, under an investigation being conducted in an ongoing case related to a high-profile chain of drug peddling.
Zaid’s name surfaced in a serious investigation in the case that had been registered under FIR No. 01/2025 at Police Station Karan Nagar, sections 8/21-29 of the NDPS Act. The authorities are of the view that the accused was involved in utilizing contemporary courier services to move illicit drugs from one state to another—a modus operandi which is increasingly outwitting law enforcement agencies.
A top police officer told news agency—Kashmir Bulletin (KB), that “This arrest will serve as a big message. We are determined to break the entire network of the operations, where the culprits are operating from.” Zaid has been remanded by the authorities, and there are more questions being raised for following his leads to an all-encompassing, inter-state drug supply chain.
The novel application of courier services to traffic illegal drugs is an indication of a morally reprehensible change in criminal strategy. Exploiting the anonymity and logistical convenience offered by such services, traffickers have been able to transport contraband with impunity. The case highlights the necessity for the coordinated effort of law enforcement agencies across regions.
By making this strong statement, Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterate their commitment to eliminating drug peddling in all its forms. The authorities continue their efforts to prosecute all those who are engaged in this illegal activity as investigations remain ongoing.— (KB)
