DDC Budgam briefs press about present Covid status in the district
BUDGAM, MAY 20 (KB): The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today appealed to the general public to follow all SOPs and other instructions in letter and spirit to prevent further spread of Covid.
The DDC during the press briefing said that since Ist of April 2021, 9030 positive cases were recorded, among these 4871 have recovered, presently there are 4295 active cases. Regarding recovery rate, it has improved and reached 53.9 percent.
He said that since yesterday gradual decrease of 12 percent among positive cases has been recorded in the district and this has been achieved due to strict imposition of lock down measures all across the district.
The DDC said that there are apprehensions that the positivity rate may show a rising trend in the coming days as the administration has started aggressive testing. He said presently around 3000 tests are done on daily basis at all designated testing sites and in addition teams have been constituted who shall go door to door to carry out on spot testing of all asymptomatic as well as symptomatic patients.
Mirza said that in order to negotiate any emergency they have added another 50 bedded facility at Nagam Chadoora equipped with all necessary equipment, particularly oxygen facility.
Regarding establishing 5 bedded Covid care facilities at all panchayat locations in the district, the DC said that in this connection the requisite exercise has since begun and they are on the job. (KB — Kashmir Bulletin)
