KUPWARA PENCAK SILAT TEAM SPONSORED BY KUPWARA TERRIERS, FELICITATED AT PATAHIRI

As part of the continued efforts to engage the youth of Kupwara and promote the culture of sports and games, Kupwara Terriers, Indian Army, sponsored the District Pencak Silat team comprising of 27 Players (07 Girls, 20 Boys) to participate in the 6th Pencak Silat State Championship 2021 at the Indoor Sports Hall, Polo ground, Srinagar from 21 to 23 Sep 21 (under the aegis of J&K Sports Council and organised by J&K Pencak Silat Association) the event saw more than 500 players from 20 Districts participating in the three-day championship.
The team from Kupwara  won 15 medals including 2 gold, 1 silver and 12 bronze.
Col Swaraj Bhattacharya, Commanding Officer, Kupwara Terriers,  felicitated the 15 winning players and  congratulated the young players on their stellar performance and assured them robust support in the future for their training, development and participation in more competitions. 
He particularly applauded the young girls for not only competing in the martial arts event, but also performing admirably. He spoke at length to the players about their experiences, challenges, requirements and reiterated the importance of sports in creating a positive environment to bring development, peace and harmony to the region.
