A man threw his wife out of his house and filed for divorce as she gained weight after marriage. The woman, Nazma, has alleged that her husband, Salman, often fat-shamed her and thrashed her over her weight gain.

She said that Salman threw her out of the house a month ago and sent her divorce papers. The couple used to fight a lot as the man often fat-shamed Nazma.

Nazma, a resident of Meerut’s Zakir Colony, got married to Salman, who lives in Fatehpur, eight years back and the couple also has a 7-year-old son. Nazma alleged that he used to call her fat and said he couldn’t live with someone like her.

“He told me that he doesn’t want to live with me as I have gained weight,” Nazma said. While the man has already filed for divorce, Nazma said that she still wants to live with her husband and doesn’t want a divorce.

She claimed that she also reached the Lisari gate police station in Meerut to seek justice. However, the police said that the matter has not been reported yet.

Talking to India Today, Circle Officer (CO) Kotwali Meerut, Arvind Chaurasia, said that no such case had come to his notice. He further assured that if the matter gets reported, a proper investigation will be done and action will be taken accordingly. (India Today)
