Srinagar, Aug 16 (KB): As a surprising and much-discussed move, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has executed a major reshuffle, affecting over 156 senior officers, including 122 transfers within the General Administration Department.
“This major realignment occurred in a 24-hour window, culminating in multiple official orders—some issued overnight and others this morning,” revealed the details available with the Kashmir Bulletin (KB).
“The reshuffle involves a notable number of IAS, IPS, JKAS, and JKPS officers, with five Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and district Superintendents of Police (SSPs) among those transferred.
Patiently, reliable sources told KB, this move appears to be part of the administration’s efforts to complete pre-MCC (Model Code of Conduct) exercises ahead of the upcoming elections.
Sources further indicate that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is poised to announce the election schedule later today. “A press conference is scheduled in New Delhi at approximately 3:00 PM, where the ECI is expected to reveal key details regarding the electoral timeline,” informed the ECI earlier today.
Notably, the swift administrative shake-up underscores the urgency with which the J&K administration is preparing for the impending electoral process.—(KB)
